Welcome to our website! #MakeItSafeOnline, where we share stories from real-life events that highlight the challenges faced by human rights defenders in Thailand.
Our stories are from the report "Being Ourselves is Too Dangerous," part of Amnesty International’s global campaign, Protect The Protest.
These stories are adapted from true incidents drawn from Amnesty International's research report "Being Ourselves is Too Dangerous," in which we conducted in-depth interviews 40 human rights defenders, including 14 cisgender, heterosexual women and 26 LGBTI people, in Thailand. From this report, we found that:
1.Women and LGBTI people who engage in human rights activism aren’t safe in the digital space due to TfGBV.
2.Effective remedy is not available for those targeted with TfGBV
3.TfGBV led to a chilling effect that discourages women and LGBTI HRDs from speaking out.
Therefore, we call on everyone to help make the online world safe with our campaign #MakeItSafeOnline.
